Indian Reservation System

India is young country and want to be next super power but at same time. There are many things that holds India back to achieve that. Issues like corruption, Population, Rigid mindset are few of them. but today I want to discuss about Reservation. This is the problem we are facing at both local level as well as global level.

First, let's talk about reservation system. After Independence when we started a new life, we thought to start walking on same level. For that purpose, it was required that people who are legging or behind, due to cast, money, untouchability or their place, to give a boost. Allow them to run fast so that, after 50-60 years when India actually doing growth all are equal and working hard for india's progress. So Govt. had given reservation in education and job for SC, ST and OBC.

Now in the decades of 60s and 70s first generation of India has seen good things about reservation, That people are treating on same level. Untouchability was bit less after that. People, who belong to SC and ST, stay at same colony, work at same office and at some place also eat together. That was time when bigger cities like mumbai and delhi, gradually updating towards metro cities.

After this in 80s and 90s, Next generation of India felt injustice at some place as, more then 40 % seats at everywhere, in education, in jobs, everywhere is given to this SC and ST quota. apart from this. SC and ST people also apply in normal quota. So there was slowly and discussion and problem with both type of people. again SC and ST people's mindset was that they had been backward and struggled for many many years.

In current scenario, in 00s and 10s, Issue has totally changed. Today Those student who wants reservation, we can see, their parents also used reservation and in some case, their grand parents too. Now Their parents used reservation and study at good place, get good job and earn handsome amount. and then they want same for their children. So the people from Normal category feel injustice about this.

This is one part of picture where we seen 3 different scenarios of Indian Reservation System. Now other major problem with Reservation is, it's totally caste based. So If you get birth in particular caste, even if u didn't stand in merit, you get admission in good college. or get good job. I agree that in past same thing had happen. But if we see ancient hindu mythology. Caste was not based on birth, it was based on work.

Reservation System requires to be changed, but it can't be changed overnight, as it's very big process. But at same time, some one, some where require to change it. As per my view, Whole reservation system should be on Financial Base and Merit Base. For Example, If student A is having 90 % but he can't pay fees, then also we need to give him admission, doesn't matter that A belongs to Bramhin or muslim or SC. Then it can be equally driven.

One more issue is Reservation Should be given at one place only. For example if one student get admission in college in reservation quota, then he is not permitted to get job or promotion in reservation quota, Because you can't use it again and again. In india, he gets admission in College in reservation quota, then get job in same and last he get promoted because he belong to particular caste. It's not fair for system and society.

Before completion of this issue I would like to mention my view about reservations at local level.

Currently, there is movement against one college in bhuj, where people wants 10% reservation for students, who are from Kachchh. Now I personally feel, this is not good for Society. First thing is Kachchh is not having best institutes of Gujarat, specially in professional courses. There are many many students who go outside kachchh for study. Now if all the institutes of Gujarat get 10% reservation for their city or tahsil, then i think 30 % students of Kachchh, will not get admission. Is Kachchh ready for this?

Ultimately, My point is we have created Reservation System to bring all on same track. I think that wish is fulfilled and now Reservation System must be depend on Economically and Financially Backward people.

An Open Letter to Krishna...

Piyush Mishra - An Ideology

Yaad rakh par koi anhoni
Nahi tu laayegi
Laayegi toh phir kahaani
Aur kuch ho jayegi
Yaad rakh par koi anhoni
Nahi tu laayegi
Laayegi toh phir kahaani
Aur kuch ho jayegi
Honi aur anhoni ki
parvaah kisse hai meri jaan
Had se zyada yehi hoga
Ki yahin mar jayenge
Hum maut ko…..
Hum maut ko sapna bata kar
Uth khade honge yahin…
Aur honi ko…..
Aur honi ko thenga dikha kar
Khilkhila kar jayenge

This is part of very superb song of "Gangs of Wasseypur", written by Piyush Mishra. Actually it's not about songs or music, I want to share here lyrics and attitude behind that lyrics. There are lots of stories about inspiration, motivation, hard work, smart work and all. But when one feel frustrated, one can't even think or understand any of them. I am not talking about any inspirational story or motivate you.

There is part of every person's life, where he try very very hard, he do whatever he can, but then also he fails. He didn't receive what he wanted. At that time he go this type of mentality.. if u see this lyrics carefully.. main goal is that i don't care what world is or who is running it or how he is running it. It's about I enjoy myself. I do whatever I want to and way I am.

Piyush Mishra is that type of person. He is actor, poet, lyrics writer, story teller, orator, director, producer.... List goes on.. You can remember him from very well known movies like rockstar, Gangs Of Wasseypur. but he started his career as theater artist in Delhi. and after having great time there, he came to mumbai. He has written songs and also acted in path changning movie "Gulaal". He also wrote dialouges for movies like Ghajini and Agnipath.

Actually here i dont want to talk about his career or movies he has done, I want to talk about ideology and thinking of this guy. It's amazing when in one song of gulaal, where he changed words of great song "Sarfaroshi ki tamanna" ..
Oh re Bismil kaash aate aaj tum Hindustaan
Dekhte ki mulk saara kya tashan, kya thrill mein hai
Aaj ka launda yeh kehta hum to bismil thak gaye
Apni aazaadi to bhaiya laundiya ke til mein hai.
Aaj ke jalson me Bismil ek gunga gaa raha.
Aur behron ka wo rela naachta mehfil mein hai
Haath ki khadi banaane ka zamaana lag gaya
Aaj to chaddi bhi silti englison ki mill mein hai

This songs actually share his thinking. He is so clear in his thinking and attitude towards life. He said in one of his interview that in early life, he was impressed with Left party and that ideology but that changed time to time. he says "It was time when I was very fond of Communist Ideology. Still I love it, but time taught me left parties are not following them".
Before finishing this blog, I want to add part of his lyrics (and also sung by him) a song which gives a msg of religious harmony in very simple and yet very very efficient way..

Wo kahein hain ki duniya ye itni nahi hai
Sitaaron se aage jahaan aur bhi hain
Ye hum hi nahi hain wahaan aur bhi hain
Hamaari har ek baat hoti wahin hai
Hamein aitraaz nahi hai kahin bhi
Wo aalim hain faazil hain honge sahi hi
Magar falsafaa ye bigad jaata hai jo wo kehte hain
Aalim ye kehta wahaan Eeshwar hai
Faazil ye kehta wahaan Allah hai
Qaatil ye kehta wahaan Issa Hai
Manzil ye kahti tab Insaan se ki
Tumhari hai tum hi sambhalon ye duniya
Ye bujhte huye chand baasi charaaghon
Tumhaare ye kaale iraadon ki duniya…

Dharm - A movie to watch....

Today, on precious day of Guru Poornima, I watched a movie "Dharm" and it just jolted me inside out.  From our life to death, first breath to every breath we take, We are most of time confused that how we can live, how this world working, how is earth rotating around sun since so many years in same way.. some say it's science and some say it's god...

Spirituality, God, Religion are very big part of our life. Specially in India where no. of religion are more then no. of cities. We are living in country where more then 33 Crore Registerd(in vedas) devtas and many more who became god and many many more who claim to be god. In this country, we are very very obsessed  about our religion views. and our religion sentiments are hurt even when someone says "Ganeshji is having face of elephant" (again this will hurt many people's sentiment). There are so many branches of every religion.

Now a days, It's business only. How many people follow you? How many engineer or doctor became priest in ur religion? or in how many acres your temple is there? but is it spiritual? We live in place where people just want a recognition and self praise.

The answer of all my queries related to Hindu Dharm are not solved by any book. It was very easily and simply solved by movie "Dharm". Dharm is released in 2007 and directed by Bhavna Talwar. Leading actors are Pankaj Kapoor and his wife Supriya Pathak Kapoor.

First thing I love about movie is it's cinematography. It's based in Banaras, A city of spirituality, and cinematography of this movie is one of best till time I seen. It shows most part of banaras. The way, it's directed and angles are used are just treat to watch.

Second thing that I like most is storyline and screenplay. Story shares about Hindu Dharm and different rules to live according to Hindu Mythology. but more then that it shows emotions of person. Sensibility of person which changes from time to time.

Even u dont care about cinematography and story or anything then also this movie u must see for Pankaj Kapoor, What a character he has played.. Emotional, Strong, Religious.. I dont have words.. Just watch movie..

Over all, this movie teaches us what's true religion? Just go and watch it.....

Dear students, I wish you many job rejections

This is Speech from, one of my fav. news reader, Suhasini Haider, from CNN IBN. It shows tough life of journalist. But more then that, when you go to real field of job or business, nothing matters. Not your back ground, qualification. NOTHING. Only thing matters is hardwork and passion.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To the graduating students of WMA - it really is an honour to address you today. To begin with, Congratulations! I am sure you must have heard a lot about how tough the business is right now, how difficult it is to find jobs in journalism, and I want you to know...it's all true.
You know about 15 years ago I hit a job market a bit like the one you will face when you go out. It wasn't that it was hard to get a job in television... it was just impossible.
I countered 7 rejections - one 'please come back next year', one 'please don't call me again', even one 'Can you give me a job?', and I had one last interview to do. This wasn't a job in news, it was a marketing job for a documentary channel. I showed up with my CV, very eager to get the job.
I earned my journalism degree at Boston University, then worked at the UN, at CNN in New York. I had been a Producer for CNN in Delhi for a few years when I quit. I was reeling all this off to the gentleman sitting in front of me, who listened quietly. At the end of it all here's what he said to me:
"I don't need to tell you are qualified. You are qualified. And you could probably talk yourself into this job. You are confident. I can tell you will make a go of it... you may even learn to like the job. You are flexible. But somewhere in your heart, you will hate me for giving you the job - because your passion is news. And I don't want you to hate me, so sorry, but I am not giving you the job."
My dear graduates, I am going to hope for you that each of you gets rejected for a job in exactly the same way... because if you don't understand what your passion is, it helps to have an interviewer that does. Because in the profession you have chosen, there will be many reasons to quit, and only one reason to stay - and that is the passion to tell a story.
You must think I am weird - you've invited me to address you on your graduation, and here I am wishing you job-rejections. If you think that's bad, let me tell you what else I wish for you:
1. I wish for you a really mean boss - one who makes you cry. Let's be honest... this is a tough business.. one where you have to push and bully your way to a story. You need to develop a thick skin early on. One of my first professional memories was of being pushed off a ladder in a media stampede outside a court, when I got thrown to the floor and the mic dropped from my hand. Instead of giving me any sympathy, my cameraman fired me up. I learned right then, both in the field and in my newsroom, you have to stand still as others try to push you around. So when the boss blows you up for missing the big interview of the day, you learn to go to the washroom, weep a little, and then go get the interview. If you get a boss who says, 'Never mind, next time...', honestly, you will get nowhere in the business.
2. I wish for you many, many days spent in the heat. So much of our job requires you to stand on someone else's footpath, waiting for the person who lives inside to come out or go in, it's a great thing to get used to. You will make many friends along the way, as sitting around on a sidewalk doing nothing but sweating all day is a great time to start a conversation. Sometimes the scoop of the day goes to the reporter who stays on that sidewalk the longest. Last month, I reached the sidewalk outside Aung San Suu Kyi's house. I didn't get to speak to her that morning, but I did make friends with Tai Chi Toe, her dog.
3. I wish for you many unwell colleagues. That does sound horrid, but honestly, it's how I got most of my early breaks. You get sent on an assignment only because someone else is indisposed. All I can say is, learn to thank those colleagues, and always say yes to any opportunity to fill-in.
4. I wish for you assignments in places where telephones and computers don't work, because the joy of heading out to a remote area, where you work on one story for 3 days without having to report back, no hour-on-hour deadline pressure is something you must do. My own favourite story was covering a computer programme that helped fishermen predict storms and tsunamis. To shoot, we had to wake up at 3 am to go out with the fishermen, and then come back to the beach and watch as they returned with their nets full of fish... 3 hours, just the sound of the waves, practically alone on southern India's spectacular coromandel coast......pure happiness.
5. I wish for you interviews with many eccentric quirky people... because those are the ones who will give you the story. The polite, politically correct, and very bland ones never will.
6. I could go on, but because I am not completely evil, I wish for you understanding parents. Especially when they realise you will not be able to move out of home very quickly. My first salary paid for my conveyance costs, my second one only took care of meals on every alternate day. You will never get brilliantly paid in this business, and as I said earlier, the only reason to stay is because you love the profession. They will have to be understanding in other ways. Jammu-Kashmir elections in 1996 ended one week before my wedding. I remember my mother actually called me and threatened to call it off if I didn't come home to choose my sari. Two days before the wedding, my boss offered me an assignment in Afghanistan, where President Najibullah had just been hanged. Okay... that one, I didn't take up. As you grow older, I will wish for you understanding husbands, wives and children. When I walked out of the house on the day after Christmas in 2004 to report on the tsunami, I told my kids I would be back for lunch. Lunch, yes, but two weeks later.
7. Finally, I hope that along the way, you learn to love what you do. That you watch out for the strange things you will learn along the way, from the least expected people: I learned from General Pervez Musharraf that he only joined the Army to make his mother happy. Why did his mother want him to? Because she liked the uniforms! That Narendra Modi's mother won't live with him unless he got married, or she would have to take care of him, rather than being taken care of... that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's wife last remembers going on a family vacation in 1976 (Nainital). And Ted Turner doesn't use the internet, but always ensures he has a girlfriend who can handle his e-mail.
There's no real end-goal here, unlike other professions. There aren't too many promotions in journalism, no clear-cut career path, a handful of role models, and no retirement age. With that in mind, enjoy every bit of the journey, my dear graduates... it's all you've got!

The Motorcycle Diaries

There are few decisions in life, which decide not only your faith and future, but also have very deep impact on future generation. There are few things that change thinking of generation and even more. He was also on verge of such a decision.

There was a boy called 'ernesto', studying in his final semester of medicine and suppose to be doctor in year. But then he decided to see world around him. Decided to take a break from study and see America. He decided to roam in America on bike with his friend 'alberto' and then......

Then it was the Story that every child dream of.. Story that every youth want to be part of... Story that every older person share with younger generation to share his knowledge and pride.. Story of discovering america.. Story of discovering Humanity... Story to believe what a human being can do if he take will to do that..

In January 1952, Alberto and Ernesto started their journey on their bike "The Mighty One". They started from Argentina and decided to trip around whole america, to see how people are living, what they do for life and everything? When they started they were not pretty sure how it goes...but when journey is completed Ernesto had wrote in his diary..

"This isn't a tale of heroic feats. It's about two lives running parallel for while, with common aspirations and similar dreams. was our view too narrow, too biased, too hasty? Were our conclusions too rigid? May be.. Wandering around our America has changed me more then I thought, I am not me anymore,   At least I am not the same me I was. "

Well, I am not talking about their journey, because I can't explain it here.. It needs to be feel.. It needs to imagine.. One of best movies I have ever seen.

We all know ernesto as "Ernesto "Che" Guevara" ,  who is symbol of  Rebelness and  Transition. After this journey, He felt about his contrymen, about their rights, and way they need to understand world. Che went on to fight for his ideals in the Congo and Bolivia where he was captured., and murdered in October 1967.
He is symbol of youth now. There are tons of stories, about what he has done, how he bring rebel and everything. But Point of concern is why he become like this, How he get all feelings.. These all is only because of This journey..

These awsome moments..  Go watch movie or grab a book.. I am sure you will never regret it..

Love,
Smit
