This is the time of year, where every graduate and post graduate student will become your Career Guide. Even he has done any of arts course, he will advise you about benifits and stream of Science and vice versa. I am going to write this blog for all those students who had appeared for 10th or 12th or Final Year of Graduation. I would like to give my view on Career Guidance

First thing is that I am not going to recommand you any course or any stream or any other certificate thing here. Or even I will not tell you to choose Science, Commerce or Arts. Then What I will tell you? I will tell you, how to understand your career and what are the way to go for that?
Let's understand current scenario in Gujarat. If you have appeared for 12th, currently you are enjoying you vacation, but your parents were keeping very close eye on your future career options. If you are from science, they were trying to know which stream is good in engineering or in which stream you are having maximum chance to get job. you were also attending many seminars and googling things about engineering and all. If you are from commerce stream, you might be probabaly searching for some good BCA or BBA college or some courses like that, where you get some professional experience.
Now, after 2 months, all this things will be changed. Your result will be declared. You will have clear idea where you stand and bigger then that you will have idea, where you get admission. and you try to contact those institutes and check how is education, faculty and everything is there.
I dont want to discuss these points. Now I want to tell you about some myth, that experts used.
1. Degree is not Important:
I heard many experts saying in seminaar that Degree is not important, Dhirubhai Ambani, Bill Gates and all are not having degree and all things.. but this is rubbish. Beacuse they have started work at age of 13-14. They were working for more then 15 hours per day for atleast 30-35 years of their life. Can we do that? NO. Then how can we compare ourselves with them. There are millions of people in this world and Lakhs of people in Gujarat, who are struggling because they dont have degree.
Actually Degree is gateway to move forward, Degree is byporduct of what you learned in those 3 years. You must give your effort for those years, which teach you reality of life. When you try to get some job, they require some qualification. And there should be some criteria to choose that. that crietera is your Degree Certificate. We all discuss that Mr. Bill Gates is not having any degree. but same person's company will not give you job, if you are not having any degree or certificate, even though you are master in Computers or Technology.
2. Some Courses have more value then others:
Every course or every branch have a value. It's not in course. It's in you. Today society needs every type of Professionals. Though due to no. of professionals in industry, demand may decrease or increase. But demand is always there. And in this global world, there are lot of oppertunities in all fields.. Only thing is you have to take those oppertunities.
3. 100% job placement Guarantee
There is no course, which gives you this type of Guarantee. and even if they give you job. it's really tough to sustain it. It's your hardwork and dedication will pay off, wherever you work. Actually I believe you are not suppose to think about job or anything. at that time you need to learn that course. After that you can think or explore other options once you completed it successfully.
Other thing, they will tell you is you will get 2 lakh per annum or 5 lakh per annum job. but that's also myth. Salary or package is not that important. Important thing is your work, your attitude towards work.
4. I will do course because my friends are doing it.
This is not the thing you are suppose to think when you choosing your career. Because even though, you may be best friends, but you are coming from different families, different mind sets and most importantly different thinking. It may possible that you are not intersted in the course you choose. So Know yourself
and then move forward in it.
5. Hobbies and Passion
This is most important thing, while selecting career because hobby and passion are totally different thing. Hobby is one thing you do in time pass or at some part of day or week. but Passion is thing that runs you from inside. It runs you 24 X 7 for goal you wanted to achieve. Sachin Tendulkar is having Tennis and sports car as hobbies. but Cricket is his passion. You can choose careers like DJ, Chef, Movie Director, Writer or any other, which are bit out of box but for that you must have passion for that. Like you become DJ only because you like music. But it's not only that. You must have passion for music. You have great idea about musicians, musical instrument, live mixing and other things.
I hope you will not go for this myth. and concentrate on your ideology and thinking
